Just thinking about the various people I know on the internet. Mostly they are making money on the internet in some way. I am sure reading this there are tons of people out there thinking I am talking about them. Odds are I am. Here are the types of people I see: Ninja Programmers - People with all the skill in the world but they are just to scared to do anything that makes money. And I mean simple things like... sell a plugin or something. These guys will spend all their time coding free open source software making the world a better place... And for them all they care about is recognition on how good of a programmer they are. I can't tell you how many of these guys I know... and they make me want to cry. They are the first guys tell tell you about how poor they are then the next minute they are hitting you up to write about their Wordpress plugin they are giving away. Hackers - If you put hacker style guy in a room they can't code a program to save their life. But give them access to php.net and maybe even some sample code and they can hack away at code until they get it to do what they want it to. Most hack and slash style guys I know do really well in affiliate marketing. I would put myself in this category. I can hack away at a lot of stuff and make some cool stuff. It's why I love Wordpress so much ;). The problem with hackers is most of the time they have little to no education on how to run a company or manage employees. So they always chase the dragon as an affiliate or build some cool revenue producing sites. But generally they run alone. Know it All's - Know it All's do not poses any technical ability, education, and most of all experience. They have opinions of everything and 20 different business plans of which each just need one more sit down meeting with a "Guru" to get their opinion on whether its a good idea or not and they are going to take action. These people drive me crazy. Grinders - Grinders make the most money of anyone I know. They don't have any technical ability but most of them have formal education like a MBA and they can run a company and properly manage people. These guys move slow but win the race and sell companies for millions. Just making progress every day. I am always analyzing people (and myself) to see kind of where I am at. I am currently trying to strive more to be a grinder and less of a hacker. Where you at?
