I was super pumped for this years Elite Retreat event. Hell I am always pumped up for this event. We created the conference we always wanted to attend and we improve it every year.
On Monday (the 8th) I got up at 530am to drive up to Omaha and catch the 9am flight to Denver. I laid over there for an hour then to our final destination of San Francisco.
I got into SFO around noon PST and headed to our host hotel, the Taj Campton Place. When leaving the airport and seeing all the cabs I had to yell out a "CABS A HEAAA". (Sorry I havent gotten out much since my knee injury)
Once we got to the hotel I chilled out and iced my knee while my awesome staff setup the meeting room and what not.
I really have to give them all the credit for this event. All logistics, meals, picking the hotels, clubs for entertainment, and everything in between.
I literally did nothing. After all I am just the talent.
On Tuesday we sent a fleet of limos to pick up all attendees and speakers. Thats how we roll.
Once they got to their rooms all attendees got "welcome" giftbaskets from Adknowledge and a gift from us that consisted of a T-shirt sponsored by nerdy shirts, Guy Kawasaki's book Enchanment, a Verizon MiFi hotspot device, and a lanyard sponsored by Matt Coapman from Blu Cig.
The speakers were presented with a special gift bag as well.
Once everyone got settled there were cocktails and hors d'oeuvres sponsored by LeAnne Lowe from Neverblue. LeAnne rocks and made a special batch of their patented Neverblue special blue cocktails (flammable). They were a big hit.
Neverblue also, presented each attending and speaker with a giftbag. Thats how they get down.
On Wednesday morning the conference began. I started it off with introductions of all the speakers and had all attendees introduce themselves.
The first day line up was Andy Jenkins followed by Guy Kawasaki, Troy Meyerson/ Pat Cooper, Maria Sparagis, and a closing with Stephan Spencer.
Throughout the day there was lunch, cocktails, and snacks provided. One on Ones also started.
Later that night we met in the lobby and went over to Farallon for an evening of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and dinner sponsored by Jason Nazar from Docstoc.
Jason was so kind to provide each attendee with free, lifetime access to the Docstoc service.
After dinner and cocktails we went out to the Clift.
Thursday morning the attendees and speakers were provided breakfast again and the day started off with Allen Baler speaking followed by Aaron Baker, Jennifer Sheahan, Jon Kelly, and ending the day with Jon Correll.
Throughout the day there was a continuation of one on ones between speakers and attendees. There was also lunch, snacks, and cocktails provided throughout the day.
Later that night dinner and cocktails was held at Infusion Lounge. This part of the evening was sponsored by Fraser Stryker and SEO LinkWheelers. The next half of the night VIP bottle service in the VIP Room sponsored by Aaron Baker from Atrinsic. We did not end the night early lets just say that.
On Friday we started with breakfast and a presentation from Dave Snyder of Blueglass followed by SEO Linkwheelers and Jason Nazar.
After this we split for lunch and cocktails. After everyone was refreshed I gave a talk that if 1/10th of it was ever revealed I would get in a lot of trouble... Thank god my lawyers had already had gone home.
I moderated the rest of the day as attendees asked questions and got advice from other attendees sharing there experiences. It was great.
Saturday we flew home to Omaha, Nebraska and then drove an hour to Lincoln. I got the almost out of gas warning about 25 miles from my house and when I pulled into the driveway it went from 1 mile to flatline. Never a dull moment.
I would like to thank all the speakers and attendees for coming and especially my awesome staff Tigh, Casandra, and Anna for making it happen.
I am really happy the event went so well being that its the last one we will ever have.... or is it?!?!?
